Meet the Principal of University Place Elementary School

On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to personally welcome you to University Place Elementary School (Home of Tuscaloosa City School’s 1st Lighthouse School and one of only six recipients of AdvancED STEM certification in the state of Alabama).  It is with great honor and much enthusiasm that we begin each new day of our school year with the unwavering determination to continue moving the needle of excellence as we prepare ALL of our students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers and lifelong learners.  Through our project based curriculum and leadership-based culture, it my daily goal to encourage ALL of my students to “think outside of the box”, “learn using their hands”, and “collaborate with each other to solve problems in our community.” Literacy is always at the root of our focus, and I plead with parents to ensure your child is reading at least 20-30 minutes daily.

We are grateful for DCH Credit Union and BoJangles for their continuous support!!  Always we welcome all of our parents, grandparents, and other community stakeholders to join us to continuously improve in our effort to create an environment of excellence, where students know that they are loved, supported and expected to give no less than their best.  Our motto is “Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today”, and working together there are NO LIMITS to the levels of success our students will achieve. Please know that I have an open door policy, and welcome any opportunity to meet with you. I look forward to our collaboration in providing a safe and nurturing environment as well as a challenging and diverse curriculum.  Let’s be nothing less than AMAZING!!
